About us

The Canada-China Friendship Society in Ottawa (CCFS) is an independent, non-political, non-partisan and membership-based organization, founded in 1976. It is solely run by a team of volunteers. The CCFS is dedicated to helping Canadians become better informed about China–its past, its current achievements and challenges, and what the future may hold.

Our main activity is holding monthly public meetings featuring speakers on a wide variety of topics. The presentation is followed by a question and answer period. Refreshments are served at the end of the evening, allowing for individual discussions and socializing. Monthly speaker presentations are free for members.

The CCFS organizes film festivals, Chinese New Year banquets, and trips to conferences in mainland China and Hong Kong at the invitation of the Chinese friendship associations, Hong Kong Trade Development Council, and others. The CCFS also occasionally receives friendship delegations from China.  These and other activities aim to promote better understanding and exchanges, and to promote people-to-people ties. The CCFS is a member of the Federation of Canada-China Friendship Associations..
