Events and Delegations

February 5, 2006,  Year of the Dog Banquet at the Mandarin Ogilvie combined with a 30th anniversary celebration of the chapter’s founding (206 persons attending); congratulatory remarks by Ambassador Lu Shumin, the first two chapter presidents Peter Larson & Maija Kagis, and by senior municipal officials from Ottawa and Gatineau. Generous door prizes were donated by the Chinese Embassy, Canada Post Corporation, and CCFS members.

May 15, 2006, A special viewing of Ming-Qing dynasty paintings from the National Gallery of Canada. Commentary by Dr. Ming Tiampo, Carleton University Asian.  Program for CCFS members only. National Gallery of Canada

June 28, 2006, Collaboration on dinosaur study between Canada and China. Presentation by Museum of Nature paleontologist Dr. Xiao-chun Wu. August 7-16, 2006, Delegation of two students sent to Shanghai International Youth Interactive Friendship Camp.

September 21, 2006, The Shanghai Summer Camp experience. A talk by Neuczki Mathurin and Nick Wang about their Summer Camp experience hosted by the Shanghai People’s Friendship Association. Followed by a report from Lolan Merklinger about the Federation delegation’s September visit to China. 7:30 pm at the Richelieu-Vanier Centre
